Representatives of the Manamoc Marketing Cooperative – Medwin Paduga, Raul Viguella, Florife Cuanan, and Edden Cabebe – applied for BIR registration and met with the Cooperative Development Authority in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on November 4-6.
A cooperative is an autonomous and duly registered association of persons, with a common bond of interest, who have voluntarily joined together to achieve their social, economic and cultural needs and aspirations by making equitable contributions to the capital required, patronizing their products and services and accepting a fair share of risks and benefits of the undertaking in accordance with universally accepted cooperative principles. Manamoc Marketing Cooperative engages in livelihood projects that enable its members to achieve increased productivity, income, and purchasing power. By working together, social and economic benefits are maximized and shared among the members.
Providing technical assistance to local cooperatives is part of the Foundation’s ongoing livelihood program which aims to build the capacity of individuals and groups to access alternative livelihood and explore environmentally-friendly sources of income.
