“Kalusugan ay Alagaan, Upang Sakit ay Maiwasan”
On May 22-24, 2024, under the Foundation’s health program, the 15th Annual Health Caravan was conducted in three assisted Barangays in the small islands of Northeastern Palawan, Brgys. Diit and Algeciras, Agutaya and Brgy. Manamoc, Cuyo, Palawan.
Twenty-four (24) volunteer doctors with different expertise, including the in-house physician of the Amanpulo Resort served 2,183 patients and rendered 3,641 various services for both children and adults.
Services include medical consultations, dental, rheumatic and orthopedic assessments and treatments, mental health consults and medications, prenatal check-ups and ultrasound, pap smear, minor surgeries, circumcision, ear, nose, throat consultations and treatments, eye check-up and pterygium removal, dermatological check-up, and lab tests such as ECG, urine, blood sugar and uric acid. A volunteer pathologist was present to study biopsy sample specimens to diagnose a disease and was able to detect two (2) cancer cases.
Apart from the medical check-ups and consultations, medicines, vitamins, and eyeglasses were provided for free to patients who availed of the services. The Health Caravan was conducted in partnership with the Department of Health-MIMAROPA Region, Amanpulo Resort, West Villa Property Holdings, Island Aviation, Share Foundation, the LGUs and barangays of Diit and Algeciras, Agutaya and Brgy. Manamoc, Cuyo, Palawan, and with the support of PhilSeven Foundation, Inasal Chicken Bacolod, Amediqo, Franvinisco, Inc., Macro Pharma Corp., and the Foundation’s generous individual donors.
Dr. Grace Gabriel, a volunteer dentist from the Department of Health MIMAROPA IV-B conducted dental services such as cleaning, filling, and extraction. |
Dr. Gary Mercado, a volunteer Onco Ophthalmologist, Conducted eye check-ups and Pterygium removal.
