Distribution of Reading Glasses

Back

The Andres Soriano Foundation and the Cancer Institute of UP-PGH distributed 600 pairs of reading glasses to individuals with presbyopia during the cancer lecture and outreach activities in Ternate, Cavite on July 20 and Taft Avenue, Manila on November 15.

Presbyopia is the gradual loss of the eyes’ ability to focus on nearby objects. This usually becomes noticeable in early to mid-40s and may continue to worsen until around age 65. Symptoms include a tendency to hold reading material farther away to make letters clearer, blurred vision at normal reading distance, and eyestrain or headaches after reading or doing close-up work. The reading glasses were donated by the George Ty Foundation as part of its Salamin sa Maliwanag na Bukas program, an eye wellness advocacy for underprivileged individuals and communities.

Many thanks, George Ty Foundation, for your generous support!
