Handicraft Weavers in Canipo

Back

The Andres Soriano Foundation conducted a monitoring visit on October 29 in Barangay Canipo, Magsaysay, Palawan to support handicraft weavers in their production of pandan picnic boxes and other handicraft products. Pandan grows abundantly in this area, and regenerates naturally when young leaves are cut from the main plant.

Collaborating with handicraft weavers is part of the Foundation’s ongoing livelihood program which aims to build the capacity of individuals and groups to access alternative livelihood and explore environmentally-friendly sources of income.  Aside from conducting trainings, the Foundation also links the handicraft weavers to resorts and local stores for marketing and distribution of their products.
